Heart to Heart International was one of the first humanitarian organizations to respond to the devastating earthquake in Haiti that killed more than 230,000 people and is one of the few organizations still there providing healing and hope.
Volunteer driven
Heart to Heart has deployed more than 400+ medical volunteers to Haiti, delivered more than $20 million worth of life-saving medical aid and treated more than 100,000 people—2,500 weekly—at clinical sites in Port-au-Prince, Leogane and Fondwa.
Cholera
Heart to Heart is now responding to yet another disaster impacting the Haitian people—cholera.
Joining the Haitian Ministry of Health and other international humanitarian organizations, Heart to Heart is working around the clock to contain a cholera outbreak that has infected more than 170,000 people, claimed more than 3,650, and is quickly spreading toward the capital city of Port-au-Prince, where 1.5 million people living in tent cities are at risk for contracting this deadly, infectious disease.
Heart to Heart is treating patients with early-stage cholera at each of its clinical sites and referring more serious cases to a growing network of Cholera Treatment Centers. Our response is part of an ongoing effort to provide primary care to people in underserved communities throughout the quake zone. As part of our ongoing volunteer-driven efforts to provide health and hope in Haiti, we are taking every necessary step to ensure a safe working and living environment for our staff and volunteers.
