Consider Nancy. She knew she wanted to do something to help victims of the 2004 tsunami, but life circumstances put her plans on hold. A friend kept inviting her to join Heart to Heart’s volunteer team to Sri Lanka. She finally decided to take the plunge in 2007.

Nancy says she’s glad she did.

An interior designer by trade, Nancy helped redesign classroom layouts to maximize the airflow in each room and provide the teachers with better access to the students. In the end, the students captured her heart. She returned to Sri Lanka with another team in 2008 and took the next step: Along with her husband, Nancy contributed a significant financial gift to Heart to Heart in support of our school-based initiatives in the tsunami zone.

She didn’t stop there. Through her husband’s job at a subsidiary of Pepsi Co., she was able to multiply the donation through the company’s matching-gift program.

Nancy became a multiplier after connecting to a world in need. She found her passion in the smiles she brought to the face of children in Sri Lanka.
