The United Nations has established several important health initiatives as part of its Millennium Development Goals, including a focus on maternal and child health, as well as a collective effort to reverse the tide of infectious diseases (i.e., HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria) sweeping around the world.
Heart to Heart is part of the global solution. Working with our strategic partners, volunteer base and cause-driven donors, we are focusing our efforts on empowering healthcare workers in developing countries.
Our programs emphasize nurturing the next generation of healthcare workers, cross-training the current generation of medical professionals, and providing technical assistance to healthcare facilities in a combined effort to increase the capacity of medical care throughout the entire health system.
For instance, our Physicians With Heart project reinforces local efforts to increase primary care in several republics of the former Soviet Union. Our complementary educational initiatives take local healthcare capacity to the next level. We utilize a train-the-trainer model to sustain efforts to raise the standard of maternal health at hospitals and clinics throughout the country. Further, we donate new diagnostic instruments at several healthcare facilities and demonstrate how to use these tools to assess patients and provide them with more comprehensive care.
We have similar programs in operation in developing countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America. Put your skills and passion to good use by volunteering to assist in our efforts. Find out how by clicking here.
