Taking out a Silent Killer

As Heart to Heart seeks to create a healthier world, we understand the imperatives of addressing some of the root causes for poor health.

That is why we strive to address community health concerns in underserved regions of the world. Our initiatives typically involve developing reliable sources of clean water, but that is only half of the story.

We also work to improve sanitation at facilities that serve vulnerable children.

For example, our recent Physicians With Heart trip to the former Soviet republic of Tajikistan addressed issues related to primary care; however, we also applied for and secured a federal grant to reconstruct a bathroom and shower facility at a bordering school for orphans in Vakhsh. The result was improved sanitation for 60 students.
