April is National Volunteer Month, and in honor of that, we are spotlighting a whole group of our volunteers: Vaccination Volunteers
As vaccines became more readily available, one thing became clear – governments, health departments and health organizations were going to need the help of volunteers in order to get all the vaccines into people’s arms.
And people stepped up in a big way.
Heart to Heart International began helping Johnson County and other local community groups process the hundreds of volunteers who raised their hands to help in these critical vaccination efforts. People throughout the community volunteered to give of their time and skill in order to help all of us overcome the pandemic.
“I am in awe of the number of people who are willing to re-arrange their schedules, take time off from work and family obligations in order to get the vaccine out to the community,” HHI’s Director of Volunteer Engagement, Nachelle Kaughman said. “There is a true sense of community in talking with people who are volunteering to vaccinate. They want to link arms with one another and get us through this pandemic.”
Volunteers who have been processed through HHI have participated in more than 30 vaccination events around the community, resulting in more than 25,000 people vaccinated against COVID-19.
We could not be more proud or thankful for the dedication and compassion of every one of our volunteers. Thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough for the important work you are doing for us all.
