Hurricane Ida was a deadly and destructive Category 4 hurricane that became the second-most damaging and intense hurricane to make landfall in Louisiana on record, behind Hurricane Katrina in 2005. More than a million people in Louisiana lost electrical power, and the storm caused widespread infrastructural damage throughout the southeastern portion of the state, as well as extremely heavy flooding in coastal areas. Power line damage was extensive throughout New Orleans.
Heart to Heart International distributed medications, medical supplies and hygiene supplies in the immediate aftermath of the storm.
In the weeks since, we have distributed hygiene kits to partners working in the affected areas, including to Bigun’s Disaster Response Services. We work with amazing partners throughout the U.S. and the world and have partnered with this organization after multiple disasters in the past.
The volunteers at Bigun’s Disaster Response Services created buckets of food, cleaning supplies and HHI hygiene kits for distribution to people impacted by the storm. The pictures the organization shared with us show an amazing effort to aid those in need following Hurricane Ida. A big thank you also goes out to all our volunteers who have spent their time assembling these kits.
