The February 6 earthquake that struck Türkiye (Turkey) and Syria left a trail of devastation in its wake, bringing loss and suffering to the affected regions. The magnitude 7.8 earthquake caused widespread destruction, displacing communities and shattering lives. Heart to Heart International immediately responded, delivering more than 26,000 hygiene kits three portable, stand-alone medical clinics, and more than $650 million in medicines and medical supplies.
One local organization, Empati Derneği, received almost 5,000 hygiene kits from HHI and has been distributing them to people impacted by the earthquake. They have distributed kits to families through a pop-up distribution “store,” as well as through schools and by having volunteers travel to rural villages.
Empati Derneği sent us pictures of their distribution efforts (below) and told us many of the volunteers who help distribute these kits are survivors themselves. We are pleased to partner with local organizations like Empati Derneği to ensure that needed supplies are getting to the people who need them the most.
