In February, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Türkiye and Syria, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in its wake. The tremors claimed the lives of nearly 60,000 people and displaced millions from their homes.
In the wake of this catastrophic event, Türkiye found itself grappling with the enormous task of caring for over 1.5 million displaced individuals. Many of these survivors were forced to live in sprawling tent communities with precarious living conditions and inadequate sanitation facilities.
A message from our partners working to rebuild reached us loud and clear: “Hygiene kits are desperately needed in Türkiye.” These kits are a lifeline for those enduring the aftermath of a disaster. They provide not just basic care but also a sense of dignity and comfort to families struggling to regain their footing amidst the rubble.
Through our partnership with multiple organizations, including Global Empowerment Mission, thousands of families in Türkiye received hygiene kits. These kits contain essential items, including soap, toothbrushes, shampoo and more. They help prevent the spread of disease and ensure families can maintain basic hygiene even in the harshest of conditions. These kits represent not just material aid but also a reminder that these families are not forgotten.
