Local families and community groups are invited to come out and see the new space, as well as participate in a short hygiene kit build event.
LENEXA, Kansas, — Heart to Heart International (HHI), based in Lenexa, Kan., has transformed its hygiene kit assembly event space to accommodate a growing number of Kansas City-area volunteers. The newly renovated space is a welcoming, efficient environment that includes new assembly lines, a volunteer lounge, and more areas to assemble kits to send to people in need around the world.
A more efficient space was needed because the need for vital healthcare and hygiene supplies has grown exponentially in recent years. HHI is committed to helping communities affected by crisis and is excited to announce this expansion of resources to reach even more people.
“For more than a year, we have been working to update our facility and expand our volunteer capacity. We are thrilled to unveil the new space and welcome even more dedicated individuals to join our mission. Heart to Heart International relies on our volunteers, and their contributions are essential to our work.” – Kim Carroll, CEO.
Natural disasters disrupt essential services like clean water and sanitation, increasing community health risks. In these moments, hygiene kits packed with items like soap, toothpaste and shampoo become urgently needed to prevent the spread of diseases and safeguard health. With the help of its volunteers, HHI sent more than 240,000 hygiene kits in 2023. This is the largest number of kits sent in HHI’s history, and the organization is expecting to distribute even more in 2024.
More than 12,000 people volunteered with HHI last year and the organization is hoping to grow that number even more this year. HHI urges everyone, including families, groups, teenagers, to sign up for upcoming hygiene kit assemblies for a chance to view the new space and make a difference for people in need in the U.S. and the world.
Everyone can register for hygiene kit assemblies here.
