The recent California fires have unleashed devastating destruction, displacing countless residents and leaving communities in ruins. More than two dozen people were killed, nearly 40,000 acres burned and thousands of homes were destroyed. The scale of the crisis demanded immediate action, not just for immediate relief but for the long road of rebuilding.
HHI’s Rapid Response: California Fire Relief Efforts:
At Heart to Heart International (HHI), we know that effective disaster relief requires strong partnerships. We immediately connected with 78 partner organizations to coordinate California fire relief efforts and assess the most critical needs.
Meeting Essential Needs:
We focused on providing critical supplies that would support immediate needs as well as help keep people healthy as they rebuild. This included:Ā
- 16,700 Hygiene Kits: Ensuring basic sanitation and dignity.Ā
- 25,000 N95 Masks: Protecting vulnerable respiratory systems.Ā
- 10,000 DripDrop Oral Rehydration Solutions: Combating dehydration and promoting recovery.Ā
Our partnerships were essential in getting aid to those who needed it most. We partnered with nine nonprofits, clinics and California wildfire relief organizations like Project HOPE, Rise Against Hunger, Save the Children, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Global Empowerment Mission to ensure these supplies reached those most in need. Project HOPE distributed hygiene kits at key community hubs like United American Indian Involvement, Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic, The Sidewalk Project, Gracelink, and other community organizations, and Global Empowerment Mission delivered them to affected individuals in Pasadena and Hollywood.
Our Ongoing Dedication:
The road to recovery from the California fires will be long, involving not just immediate aid, but the complex process of rebuilding homes, businesses, and infrastructure. HHI remains dedicated to providing ongoing support, working alongside our partners to provide long-term assistance and hope for the future.
