Clinics Providing Critical Healthcare in Syria Long After 2023 Earthquake

The devastating earthquake that rocked Türkiye and Syria last year killed over 60,000 people and destroyed communities. The widespread damage included countless healthcare facilities, leaving many survivors without essential medical care.

In response to this urgent crisis, Heart to Heart International donated critical medications and medical supplies, hygiene kits and three portable medical container clinics. Two of those clinics were donated to Multifaith Alliance in Syria. These vital facilities have become critical parts of the healthcare system for the affected communities.

The clinics are equipped to provide a range of essential medical services, ensuring that people have access to critical care in the aftermath of the disaster and beyond.

One young patient, Ali, experienced firsthand the clinic’s impact. When Ali developed a fever and sore throat, his family brought him to the ambulance doctor stationed at the clinic. There, Ali received the necessary care, including tests, diagnosis and medication, allowing him to recover at home.

Another patient, Al-Hujjah Umm Samer, found relief from her wrist pain at the clinic. After a fall, she sought care at the clinic. The medical team conducted tests, including X-rays, to determine the extent of her injury. A treatment plan was developed, and she was scheduled for a follow-up appointment.

The clinic also provides essential care for the elderly. Loria Mashat, an 84-year-old resident of Al-Yaqubiyah, relies on the clinic for ongoing management of her diabetes and high blood pressure. Regular check-ups and free medications have been instrumental in her care.

Stories like these highlight the crucial role the clinics play in providing essential healthcare services to vulnerable communities not only in times of crisis but long after. Heart to Heart International is committed to sustainability, and these clinics exemplify our dedication to helping build resilient communities through lasting healthcare solutions.
