Heart to Heart International (HHI) is committed to building healthier communities, and a crucial part of that mission involves ensuring access to quality women’s healthcare. Through our Community Health program, we’re actively working to bridge healthcare gaps and empower women to take control of their well-being.
Missouri Partnership: Bringing Vital Screenings Directly to the Community
One significant initiative involves our partnership with Stuber Health Center in St. Joseph and Buchanan County, Missouri. Recognizing the importance of accessible preventative care, particularly for under-resourced populations, HHI is deploying its Mobile Medical Van (MVU) and a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to support Stuber Health’s ongoing efforts in a mobile clinic.
Breast and cervical cancer screenings are vital for early detection and saving lives. By providing our mobile medical vehicles, we are helping Stuber Health to take these essential screenings directly to the community, removing barriers to access and encouraging more women to prioritize their health. Stuber Health is providing these women’s health services through the Show Me Healthy Women program from the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services, and the partnership will continue on the fourth Friday of each month through July 2025. This allows for consistent and reliable access to these life-saving services. The MMU was made possible by the generosity of FedEx and a sustaining gift from BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), demonstrating the power of collaborative efforts in driving positive change.
Kansas Tribal Women’s Health Fair: Supporting Health Equity
HHI is expanding its reach to support tribal communities in Kansas. On March 18, our Community Health program will be participating in the Kansas Tribal Women’s Health Fair in Mayetta, KS. This collaboration with the Kansas Alliance for Tribal Community Health (KATCH) underscores our dedication to achieving health equity for American Indian and Alaska Native people. By participating in the Tribal Women’s Health Fair, we aim to provide valuable resources and support to women in these communities, addressing their unique healthcare needs and fostering a culture of women’s health and wellness.
Through these diverse initiatives, our Community Health program is empowering women with the knowledge, resources, and access they need to live healthier, more fulfilling lives. Working together, we can build stronger, healthier communities for everyone.
