HHI’s Community Health program works to bring together community organizations to help ensure that historically marginalized and underserved populations have access to the healthcare they need.
Together with more than 200 partners, we remove barriers and improve health equity. Some examples of the types of services the Community Health program offers include: arranging access to reliable transportation to neighborhood health clinics, translating educational materials in various languages, assisting clinics to extend business hours to allow for evening and weekend appointments and offering under or uninsured healthcare services free of charge.
Some of the recent events include:
“Spring has Sprung” with Mercy and Truth Medical Missions in Wyandotte County, Kansas City, KS. There were several partners that participated, including Pharmacy of Grace, Juntos, Wyandotte Angels, Church of the Resurrection, and Charlie’s House. The event included free food boxes, socks and cleaning supplies. HHI was able to distribute hygiene kits, socks, hand sanitizer. We were also able to administer COVID and flu vaccines.
KMOM (Kansas Mission of Mercy), which is a large-scale dental clinic that provides free oral healthcare to patients of all ages who cannot otherwise afford or access care. HHI partnered with the 2023 event in Topeka, Kansas, and provided the Mobile Medical Unit as well as vaccinations and hygiene kits. More than 600 dental patients were served and 1,110 hygiene kits were handed out.
