The Urgent Need in Malawian Schools
The lack of clean water and proper sanitation in many of these schools creates significant barriers to health, education, and basic human dignity, disproportionately affecting young girls.
Freshwater’s Comprehensive Approach
To combat these challenges, Freshwater focuses on infrastructure development for improved water access, the implementation of effective water purification systems, and the delivery of essential hygiene training.
HHI’s Ongoing Commitment to Malawi
Heart to Heart International’s commitment to the health and well-being of the people of Malawi is long-standing. Over the past five years, HHI has shipped more than $3 million in vital aid to the country, including medicines, medical supplies and hygiene items.
This new partnership with Freshwater Project International builds upon this foundation, addressing another critical aspect of community health: WASH.
HHI’s Commitment Through Hygiene Kits
Recognizing the fundamental role of hygiene in overall health, we are proud to support this initiative through our core Hygiene Kit program. We are sending 8,000 hygiene kits to Malawi, packed with essential supplies that promote health, preserve dignity, and offer protection against preventable illnesses. These kits will play a crucial role in supporting proper sanitation practices and fostering safer, healthier learning environments for children.
A Champion for Change: Temwa Chawinga
Temwa Chawinga, a celebrated Malawian and star forward for the KC Current, has joined Freshwater as a Brand Ambassador Passionate about her home country, she is committed to creating lasting change because she has seen firsthand how these initiatives transform lives.
Kansas City Comes Together for Malawi
The spirit of collaboration extended to our Kansas City community last week when we hosted an inspiring hygiene kit assembly event. Temwa, along with her KC Current teammate Claire Gagne and almost 200 volunteers, including enthusiastic young members of local soccer teams, came together to assemble hygiene kits. These will be directly distributed to Temwa’s home village and schools in Malawi, ensuring greater access to the resources needed for safe water and improved hygiene.
