Heart to Heart International is responding after at least five people were killed in southeastern Missouri when a tornado struck Bollinger County before dawn Wednesday morning.
HHI’s disaster response has already been in touch with partners in the Missouri Primary Care Association and will be sending hygiene kits and tarps. These will be distributed by county emergency management.
The area is about 50 miles south of St. Louis, and a National Weather Service meteorologist said the tornado remained on the ground for roughly 15 minutes, traveling an estimated 15-20 miles.
Our disaster response team continues to coordinate with other partners in the region to determine how we can best help the communities affected by this tornado.
Patrol is on the scene assisting multiple agencies with search and rescue efforts.
