Heart to Heart International and GEHA Collaborate for A1c Testing and Hygiene Kit Build
Heart to Heart International’s goal is to improve access to health and improve the well-being of communities worldwide. Recently we began a collaboration with GEHA, which generously awarded our Community Health program a grant to bring A1c testing to the Kansas City community. In addition, we worked together with the finance department at GEHA for a hygiene kit build, resulting in the creation of 1,350 kits. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and strengthening community health.
Thanks to the grant from GEHA, the Community Health program is able to extend its reach into the Kansas City community by offering A1c testing. This critical test measures average blood sugar levels, providing valuable insights into diabetes management and prevention. By taking A1c testing directly to the community, we are helping to increase awareness, early detection and access to critical diabetes care.
Last week, as part of the collaboration, the finance department at GEHA joined forces with Heart to Heart International’s Community Health program team members for a hygiene kit build. Twenty-nine GEHA team members participated in assembling 1,350 hygiene kits, which will serve as vital resources for individuals in need. These kits, containing essential personal hygiene items, promote health, hygiene and dignity for people in need after crises and disasters and for people in under-resourced communities.
Each kit created represents a step toward better health and hygiene for those facing challenging circumstances. The included essential personal care items help promote self-care, dignity and well-being, empowering individuals to lead healthier lives.
Heart to Heart International is immensely grateful for the support and collaboration of GEHA in our mission to make a lasting impact on communities. Through their generous grant and active involvement, GEHA has demonstrated a deep commitment to community well-being. By coming together, we are able to amplify our impact and worked toward a shared goal of enhancing health access and improving lives in the Kansas City community.
