Supporting Ukraine with Medicine and Hygiene Supplies

Heart to Heart International continues to support the people of Ukraine more than 18 months into the war that has caused millions to flee their homes and become refugees or internally displaced within Ukraine.

Medicine and Medical Aid

Thanks to our generous supporters, we are able to send medicine and supplies to our partners at Christian Medical Association of Ukraine. Their team then distributes the medicines throughout the country to hospitals and clinics that are struggling to care for their patients due to the lack of supplies and increased needs.

After receiving a shipment of medical aid from HHI, Angie Grutsuyk, manager for CMA of Ukraine said, “We want to express our huge appreciation for Heart to Heart International’s support and supplying us with the necessary medicine and medical items. We have obtained vital medicines indeed!

Hygiene Kits

HHI also continues to support the health and hygiene needs of those internally displaced within Ukraine through our partnership with Light of Reformation, which delivers these kits to cities throughout the country where people are in need.

Here are just a few of those recipients’ stories:

Petro and Mariia, along with their daughter and granddaughter, moved from Zaporizhzhia to Ternopil about 10 months ago. Their former city is now largely deserted due to frequent alerts and shelling. With schools unable to hold regular classes, their granddaughter has been studying online. The constant danger forced the family to find a safer place to live.

Despite not having their own home and facing some unmet needs, they feel secure and are grateful for their safety and the aid they receive in Ternopil.

Lyudmyla is a 26-year-old Ukrainian woman who was forced to flee with her daughter Milana, while her husband serves at the frontlines of the war and her parents are in an occupied village.

Though she has supportive friends and her sister-in-law nearby, caring for herself and Milana while worrying about her husband is incredibly difficult. Lyudmyla is grateful to receive essential supplies as they provide a small measure of comfort during these challenging times.

Slavko and Hanna are a retired couple from the Kherson region in Ukraine. Their home was flooded during the Russian occupation after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was destroyed.

Forced to crawl out a window of their house and escape by boat, they traveled westward to Ternopil, where they received support, including HHI hygiene kits, from the community.

Angela, a 30-year-old from Kherson, Ukraine, bravely endured two months of occupation in her hometown before making the difficult decision to flee with her sister and grandmother. Their journey west took three long days, but they finally found safety with family in Ternopil.

Angela hasn’t let hardship stop her from giving back. She’s become a valued volunteer in her new community, helping to distribute hygiene kits just like the one she received when she arrived.

We are grateful for the generosity and hard work of our partners and supporters, who enable us to provide vital aid to Ukraine. Thank you.
