Humanitarian Day Celebration: 30 Years of Giving from the Heart
Saturday, May 14, 10am – 3pm
Heart to Heart International Headquarters
(11550 Renner Blvd, Lenexa, KS 66219)
Heart to Heart International has been providing medical and humanitarian aid in times of crisis and disaster for 30 years. We’re celebrating this milestone with a community event to support our humanitarian efforts.
You don’t have to travel across the country or fly around the globe to be a humanitarian. Attend Heart to Heart International’s Humanitarian Day on Saturday, May 14 to get involved with hands-on activities and help us create a healthier world. This is an excellent opportunity to get your family or community group involved in helping others and learning to make volunteerism part of your way of life.
ASSEMBLE HYGIENE KITS FOR PEOPLE IN CRISIS
Gather friends, family or a community group and sign up for a one-hour session to assemble hygiene kits. By assembling hygiene kits, you are helping Heart to Heart International respond to people affected by disasters and crises. Hygiene kits include essential items to stay clean such as toothpaste, a washcloth, soap and shampoo. Kits provide a little bit of normalcy in a small bag for those who have suffered during a crisis.
Please register each member of your party, as capacity limits are enforced. Youth under 18 will need to volunteer with a parent or other adult. You can make a difference by volunteering at a community event and ensuring kits are available when disaster strikes.
TOUCH-A-TRUCK TOUR
Check out Heart to Heart International’s Mobile Medical Unit and other disaster response vehicles. Touring the Mobile Medical Unit is a “must!” Kids of all ages can get a tour, climb behind the wheel, and get an up-close look at all of our disaster response vehicles.
KIDS COIN DRIVE
Kids, you also can help Heart to Heart International on Humanitarian Day! Bring spare change to make a big change in the world. Every coin donated helps Heart to Heart International improve access to quality healthcare and responding to disasters and crises. Spare change can make a big impact!
Donate at least $10 to cover costs for a hygiene kit and kids will be rewarded with a special prize. Ask your family, friends, neighbors to donate coins, and search your couch cushions for extra pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters to dump into the Heart to Heart International Coin Hopper.
MUSIC AND FOOD
Humanitarian Day is all about celebrating 30 years of humanitarian aid missions, and it wouldn’t be a celebration without food and music! Food trucks will be available for the community to join in the party!
